The Qasco Group is under the leadership of three long-serving Directors, all of whom have extensive experience in the spatial science industry.

Bernie Moriarty

Bernie Moriarty is a Surveyor and Photogrammetrist with over 30 years experience in the spatial data industry in Australia and internationally.

His career began in private practice in Sydney and evolved to include cadastral, topographic, engineering and hydrographic surveys across Australia and PNG. In 1975 he became a shareholder and Director of the Qasco Group.

Bernie is a past Chairman of the Surveying of Consulting Surveyors (NSW) and the Surveying and Mapping Industry Council (NSW). He is also a member of the Australian Photogrammetric Society, the Australian Surveying Industry Advisory Council, and a Fellow of the Institution of Surveyors. In 2001 the Institute of Surveyors (NSW) awarded him the title of "Professional Surveyor of the Year." He is currently the Chairman of the Association of Consulting Surveyors, Australia.


David Sinclair

David Sinclair is a Surveyor by profession, having gained a Bachelor of Applied Science (Surveying) in 1975. He has over 30 years experience working in spatial data capture and management in Australia and internationally.

Career employment commenced with a multi-disciplinary firm in Victoria, then three years in PNG as a management professional. After joining the Qasco Group in 1983 as Manager of its Darwin office, David moved to Brisbane and has been a Director of the Qasco Group since 1992. He is now their CEO.

David is actively involved in the advancement of the spatial profession. He has held the positions of both state and national President of the Association of Consulting Surveyors and is the 1997 recipient of the Institution of Surveyors Queensland Harry Ward Medal in recognition as Queensland's "Surveyor of the Year". Currently he holds the position of Chairman of ASIBA and is a Board member of CSQC.


Leo Watts

Leo Watts is a qualified Surveyor, having earned a Bachelor of Applied Science (Surveying) in 1986 and a Graduate Diploma in Mapping & Surveying in 1988.

He began his career as a surveyor's assistant and commenced his employment with the Qasco Group in 1987 as a computer programmer and computing supervisor. He developed a range of photogrammetric mapping software packages for Qasco Analytical products.

In 1995 Leo was appointed Production Manager of Qasco Surveys, Brisbane, and in 2000 he became the Queensland State Manager. Leo became a Director of the Qasco Group in 2005 and at the end of 2008 he relinquished his role as State Manager in order to focus full-time on the Qasco Board of Directors as the Chief Operating Officer.
