> Qasco (Queensland
Aerial Survey Company Pty Ltd) was formed in 1961 providing aerial
photography, photogrammetry, cartography and engineering investigation.
> Qasco pioneered
photogrammetric mapping procedures in Australia during the 1960's from
the Equitable Life building in Queen St., Brisbane.
> At the same time, Qasco
(New Guinea) Pty Ltd operated from premises in Port Moresby, Papua New
Guinea.
> In 1969 Qasco moved
from Queen St. to Adelaide St. and became part of the International
Resources Planning and Development Group.
> In 1975 Qasco was taken
over by Control Surveys, a Sydney survey firm headed by Bernie
Moriarty, who remains a Director of the Qasco Group.
> In 1976, Qasco acquired
the aerial photography firm Adastra. Adastra was the first aerial
photography company in Australia and thus Qasco gained access to
Adastra's extensive historical film archives.
> In 1977 the Melbourne
office opened.
> In 1981 the Darwin
office opened.
> In 1988 Qasco
Analytical Systems was established to develop and market analytical
conversions for analogue photogrammetric stereoplotters. Over 150
conversions were installed in 25 countries around the world.
> In 1990 The Gold Coast
Monorail mapping and surveying project won the Queensland Excellence in
Surveying Award and went on to win the national award. Many more awards
were soon to follow.
> In 1995 the Melbourne
office was awarded the contract to manage VicImage, the Victorian State
Government aerial film library and archive. This library contains over
3000 rolls of aerial survey film.
> In 2005 Helicopter
Mapping was added to the list of services. Qasco is the only Australian
firm able to provide this in-house capability.
> In 2006 Qasco expanded
its aerial resources with the addition of a third aircraft and camera
system. Qasco also acquired Peter Torlach (Surveys) P/L, expanding the
survey skills and resources in SE QLD.
