Photogrammetry

Clients seeking spatially referenced mapping products benefit from the efficiency of the equipment and technologies used within the photogrammetry department at Qasco.

Photogrammetry is the science of measuring and recording the position of objects using photographic images. The objects may be recorded in 2D or 3D, and the principle of the technique allows the measurements by viewing the objects within a 3D (stereo) image model, without the objects being touched.

Photogrammetry provides the spatial orientation of aerial imagery to the Earth's surface, thereby allowing the imagery to be used in the measuring of topographic and planimetric mapping features.

Some of the photogrammetric products and services provided include:

> Earthworks Volumes

Recent projects include CBD buildings and streetscapes, roads and highways, pipelines and powerlines, DTM landscapes, infrastructure development, quarries and mines, subsidence analysis and even a rollercoaster ride. Our mapping specialists welcome new project challenges.

The photogrammetric team works closely with the Qasco digital imaging team for the production of a variety of digital products, including orthophotos. For more information about the digital products available, including ready-made orthorectified imagery across Australia, visit the the digital imaging section of our website.
